The double-headed eagle is a very well-known symbol among European nations but Albanians have a unique and special connection to it. In the Albanian native language, they call themselves the son’s of eagle, “Shqipetar.” They speak her (the eagle’s) language “Shqip”, which is derived from the word “Shqiponje” (which in Albanian means eagle).
It is the most celebrated symbol among Albanians and part of the Albanian national flag: a black double-headed eagle on a red background. The shape of this ring portrays pride, strength and royalty.
